What 199 Ontario renovation cleans look like

Since June 2024 our crews have completed 199 post-renovation cleans in Ontario, covering 497 bedrooms, 392 bathrooms and 175 kitchens; 47% of them had every wall and ceiling dusted and wiped.

Renovation dust is finer than household dust and settles for days. Our post renovation cleaners work top-down with HEPA vacuums and microfibre — ceilings, walls, ledges, inside every cabinet and drawer, vents, window tracks, then floors last — and lift paint flecks, grout haze, stickers and protective film from new fixtures without scratching them.

The post renovation cleaning cost is built room by room from fixed prices — see the table below, with payment before or after service.

Post-renovation cleaning guide for Ontario

Ordered by what Ontario customers booked most after their renovation — with the price, the time and what we do differently from a regular clean.

  1. Walk-throughRooms, finishes and any curing grout, paint or sealant checked before we start.
  2. Debris & dry dustLoose debris cleared, then HEPA vacuuming top-down: ceilings, walls, ledges.
  3. Detail wipeEvery surface, cabinet, frame, switch and baseboard wiped — inside and out.
  4. Fixtures & glassGrout haze, paint flecks, stickers and film removed from new fixtures and glass.
  5. Floors & final checkFloors vacuumed and mopped last, then a walk-through with you.

Bathrooms

Most booked
  • Grout haze and caulk smears lifted from tile and glass
  • Toilet, tub, shower and vanity cleaned and descaled
  • Exhaust fan cover dusted, mirrors polished streak-free
Price
$55 · powder room $35
Time
45–60 min each

Pro tipRun the exhaust fan for a few hours after the clean; it pulls the last of the fine dust out of the room.

Living areas & hallways

Most booked
  • Doors, frames, banisters and switches wiped
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped; sticker residue lifted
  • Baseboards and new trims dusted and wiped
Price
$50 · dining room $30 · den $30
Time
30–60 min each

Pro tipNew hardwood and LVP floors get a dry-dust pass first; mopping grit across them scratches the finish.

Bedrooms

  • Closets vacuumed and wiped inside — shelves, rails and tracks
  • Floors vacuumed with HEPA filtration, then mopped
  • Window sills, frames and blinds dusted
Price
$50 a room
Time
30–45 min each

Pro tipHEPA vacuuming matters after a renovation; ordinary vacuums blow fine drywall dust straight back into the air.

Kitchen

  • Every cabinet and drawer vacuumed and wiped inside — drywall dust gets into all of them
  • Counters, backsplash and new fixtures cleaned of plaster and paint flecks
  • Protective film and sticker residue removed from new surfaces
Price
$65
Time
60–90 min

Pro tipLeave the cabinet doors open overnight after the trades finish so paint and adhesive smells clear before we clean.

Construction dust: walls & ceilings

  • Fine drywall dust dusted and wiped off walls and ceilings, top down
  • Door frames, baseboards and trims wiped after the walls, never before
  • Full wall washing available when paint is cured
Price
$70 dust & wipe · $550 full wash
Time
1–2 hours a home

Pro tipAsk the painter for leftover touch-up paint before they leave — scuffs found during the clean can be fixed the same day.

Appliances

  • New or moved appliances wiped of dust inside and out
  • Oven and range hood degreased if used during the work
  • Fridge shelves and seals cleaned
Price
Oven $35 · fridge $45
Time
30–60 min each

Pro tipCheck the dryer vent after a renovation — dust and debris can block the outside flap.

Basements

  • Dust and debris swept and vacuumed from floors and corners
  • Walls, ledges and new fixtures wiped
  • Hard floors mopped; utility areas cleared of cobwebs
Price
$70 finished · $50 unfinished
Time
45–90 min

Pro tipUnfinished basements are swept and vacuumed rather than mopped so concrete dust does not turn to slurry.

“Great job by the male and female team. They did not rush and took the time needed to return the basement to a useful space. For reference, we had sound proofing simulation blowing into a finished ceiling and the dust and insulation was substantial covering the walls and ceiling floor etc. Thank you for the amazing work.”

Local insight

What makes Ontario renovation cleans different

  • Walls and ceilings were dusted on 47% of Ontario post-renovation jobs — drywall dust is the main reason people book this clean.
  • Basements were part of 23% of jobs here — about the same as across Canada (22%).
  • Homes we cleaned after renovation in Ontario averaged 3.1 bedrooms and 2.2 bathrooms.
  • 32% of jobs also had appliances cleaned inside and out — new or moved appliances collect dust in seals and vents.
Cleaning in Ontario

Renovation season in Ontario runs spring to fall; book the clean a few days after the trades finish so dust has time to settle.

Homes are closed up in winter, so drywall dust circulates through forced-air heating — vents and the furnace filter matter more.

Post-Renovation Cleaning in Ontario: questions

How much does post-renovation cleaning cost in Ontario?

The typical total here has been $525, add-ons included. It is priced room by room: bedrooms $50, bathrooms $55 (powder rooms $35), kitchens $65, living areas $50, all walls and ceilings dusted and wiped $70, interior windows $30, finished basements $70.

When should I book the clean?

Once the trades have finished and paint, grout and sealants have cured — usually 24–72 hours after the last work. Dust keeps settling for a day or two after sanding.

What is different from a regular deep clean?

Construction dust gets everywhere, so we clean top-down with HEPA vacuums, inside every cabinet, drawer, vent and window track, and remove paint flecks, grout haze, stickers and film from new fixtures without scratching them.

Do you remove construction debris?

We clear dust, small debris and packaging left in the rooms. Large construction waste, drywall offcuts and bins are for the contractor or a junk-removal service.

Do you wash walls or just dust them?

Our standard is to dust and wipe every wall and ceiling ($70). Full washing ($550) is available once paint is fully cured; we do not scrub fresh paint.

When is the busiest time in Ontario?

September is our busiest month for renovation cleans here and Friday the busiest day, so book a few days ahead then.

Should I change the furnace filter?

Yes — after the clean. Renovation dust clogs filters quickly, and a fresh one stops dust being blown back into clean rooms.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made before the service or after the work is completed, depending on your preferred payment option.
