The cleaning year in Canada, month by month
We counted every job our crews completed — 5,684 cleans of ten kinds, from house cleaning to pressure washing — and averaged them by calendar month. We only used complete months, so a month that appears in three years of records does not outweigh one that appears in two.
The pattern is clear: demand climbs from a February low to a peak in July and August, when leases turn over, families move before school starts and homes are sold. On average August is 2.1 times as busy as February. Demand then stays above the spring level through September, October and November before easing in December.
Peak and quiet months for each cleaning service
| Service | Jobs | Busiest months | Quietest months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Move-in / move-out cleaning | 2,523 | August, July | February, January |
| Deep cleaning | 1,521 | August, July | February, April |
| Oven & appliance cleaning | 670 | April, November | June, January |
| Post-renovation cleaning | 255 | November, May | February, January |
| House cleaning (hourly) | 217 | August, March | November, June |
| Carpet & upholstery cleaning | 209 | August, November | January, March |
| Pre-sale cleaning | 135 | September, May | February, January |
| Hoarder cleaning | 79 | April, December | October, November |
| Pressure washing | 41 | June, August | January, February |
Most services follow the summer moving season, but not all of them. Pressure washing peaks in June, as soon as the weather is reliably warm, and stops almost entirely in winter. Pre-sale cleaning peaks in September, in step with the fall housing market. Carpet cleaning is highest in August, when warm, dry air helps carpets dry fast.

Friday is the busiest day — people want the home clean before the weekend, or need the unit empty and spotless before a Saturday handover. Weekends are only 23% of jobs, and Sunday is the quietest day of all. For the widest choice of times, book a Tuesday or Wednesday.
The month-end crunch
For move-out cleaning, the date matters more than the month. 45% of our move-out cleans happen between the 25th and the 1st, against 27% of deep cleans. If you are moving out, the last few days of the month are the hardest to get — especially in July and August.
Does cleaning cost more in summer?
No — and the data shows it. We work from a fixed price list, so there is no surge pricing. Here is the median two-bedroom move-out clean by season:
| Season | 2-bedroom median | Jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Winter | $438 | 102 |
| Spring | $450 | 105 |
| Summer | $403 | 250 |
| Fall | $415 | 143 |
The lowest median was in summer ($403) and the highest in spring ($450). The gap reflects the homes and add-ons in each season, not different rates. What summer costs you is choice: fewer free time slots, especially at month-end.
Province by province
| Province | Jobs | Busiest month | Share in Jul–Aug* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ontario | 3,492 | August | 22% |
| British Columbia | 1,079 | August | 22% |
| Alberta | 788 | August | 23% |
| Saskatchewan | 151 | May | 17% |
| Manitoba | 65 | August | 26% |
| Nova Scotia | 100 | August | 27% |
*Based on average jobs per calendar month, so months covered by more years of records do not count twice.
The summer peak is national, but its size varies. Each province has its own guide with prices by home size and the top cities — open the province above to see it.
